Farewell Campus Dog Emeritus

After more than a decade of service to the college, border collie Ben—also known as “the wonder dog”—has gone to that big, off-leash dog park in the sky. He originally came to campus in 2000, in order to help control the Canada geese around Sunset Lake. He did that job exceptionally well. In his first seven months at Vassar, Ben had evicted all but six of the problematic geese. In the years since, he’s been a fixture of campus life, and the loyal, constant companion to Jeff Horst, director of faculty housing and special projects. Ben will be missed. –Peter Bronski
