1,166 Alumnae/i Return for Reunion 2008

Though temperatures reached into the 90s, nothing could dampen the spirits of the alumnae/i and friends and family that came to campus earlier this month. Reunion revelers stayed cool by hanging out in the air-conditioned refuges such as the bookstore or Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center; grabbing a cool drink or ice cream at the Retreat; catching a breeze on a golf cart ride; or making use of an impromptu slip ’n slide with the class of ’98 on Joss Beach.

Alumnae/i from 14 nations, including Cambodia, Russia, Sweden, and Nigeria, arrived on campus, along with two members of the class of ’33 celebrating their 75th reunion. And the class of 2003 posted impressive numbers with 232 classmates in attendance. Friday night’s all-class dinner was a zero-waste event. Campus catering worked with the college’s Sustainability Committee to make sure all food and material was either compostable or reusable. And, many returning alumnae/i shared their Vassar stories with oral historian Esther Ehrlich ’83 of StoryLines as part of AAVC's new Vassar Stories Project.Watch a sneak peek at some of these stories.
